Overview
The employee performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of city grounds. The employee also assists with athletic field preparation and with special events. There are multiple positions available in this job category. This posting is for a seasonal full-time position that will work up to approximately 40 hours per week for a maximum of 115 days.
Position starts April/May and ends in August/September. Opportunities to work through October may be available.
- Maintain all city landscape areas, including:
- Planting annuals and perennials
- Pruning all shrubs and small ornamental trees
- Mulching all landscaping beds
- Keeping all beds free of weeds
- Watering annuals in a variety of containers
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of all city and school athletic facilities for practices and events
- Set-up and take-down equipment for athletic and recreation events as needed
- Maintain and repair nature trails
- Collect and dispose of solid waste from downtown, recreation, and athletic facilities
- Work a flexible schedule with some, but not very many weekend and evening hours
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be at least 18 years of age
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will work mostly in outside weather conditions. The employee will occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fluctuations in temperature and occasionally chemicals.
