Overview

Position is responsible for management of programs, services, facilities, and personnel at designated park location. Work related activities may incorporate all facets of recreational programming and service delivery in various physical environments and weather conditions. Park Managers are required to exercise considerable independent judgment. This position operates in an isolated condition without direct on-site supervision. The Park Manager is responsible for the daily operations of all activities at the designated park location.

Requires direct regular interaction with the community, public officials and various city, state, and local officials, in an independent atmosphere. The Park Manager may be instructed to communicate directly with the media and represent the department through the media or at public meetings/events. Requires monitoring of all on site activities for compliance with agency policy as well as local and state laws.

Position reports to Regional or Sr Manager.

Key responsibilities
  • Designs and implements recreational programs in the core service areas of aquatics, sports and fitness, the arts, youth and family programs, seniors, therapeutic, and day camp
  • Develops and manages all fiscal resources, contracts, and partnerships for the park
  • Oversees and coordinates a volunteer community park advisory council
  • Manages the recruitment, training, and professional development of personnel at park location
  • Assesses the recreational needs of the community, plans, designs, implements and evaluates programs and services at location
  • Facilitates a volunteer advisory council representative of the neighborhood and user groups to the park facility
  • Develops budgetary needs of the park recreation services to be provided and makes recommendations to regional manager and department leadership
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating on-site volunteers, partners, and contractors
  • Projects, monitors, and adjusts spending and revenue to best meet the goals and performance measurements of the department
  • Oversees the ordering and purchasing of supplies, materials, and equipment for the park location
  • Monitors, evaluates, and recommends improvements, repairs, or changes to the resources of the park location to best meet the needs of the community
  • Adheres to resource management criteria of the department in the management of park facilities
  • Coordinates the training and monitoring of adherence to department policy and procedure at park location
  • Manages the customer service relations at the park location including all forms of communication with the public, marketing of programs and service
  • Responsible for proper collection and depositing of revenues
  • Responsible for on-site contract compliance monitoring
  • Processes customer inquiries and complaints, training and monitoring on site staff related to customer service skills
  • Uses software and variety of technology platforms to organize, document, track, and monitor work including, but not limited to, Active Net, Infor

    PS, Microsoft Office Suite, Peoplesoft, Neo Gov, and Web Ex.
  • Responsible for completing inspections and reports, and coordinating with supervisors, maintenance teams, risk manager, and DPW to ensure the safety of the park for patrons and staff
  • Responsible for management, planning, and implementation of aquatics programming and service delivery
