public works - building maintenance mechanic worker iithe township of east brunswick is accepting applications for a full-time building maintenance mechanic worker ii within the department of public works. Under the general supervision of the building maintenance manager, responsibilities include:
- perform a variety of routine general maintenance and repair tasks that involve, but are not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, custodial, and hvac systems.
- carpentry work involves the layout, construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance of buildings.
- plumbing work involves the installation and repair of water heaters, toilets, sinks, valves, pipes, leaks, and other facilities.
- electric work involves the installation of electrical piping or wires, lighting ballasts, fixtures, switches, receptacles, outlets, and related parts.
- custodial work includes the cleaning and maintenance of offices, bathrooms, corridors, stairways, windows, floors, equipment, and additional areas.
- transport recycling to the recycling center.
- retrieve and deliver mail and archives as needed.
- record all works completed.

- knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods, practices, occupational hazards, and safety precautions involved in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and custodial work.
- ability to obtain, store, safeguard, distribute, and properly use equipment, materials, and supplies.
- ability to install all types of resilient flooring; make safe use of tools and equipment.
- ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with public and private agencies involved.
- ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions.
- experience: 3 years plus of related experience in building maintenance activities.
- education: high school diploma and/or equivalent.
- licensing & certification: valid nj driver’s license.
