Construction Thermal Services is a construction company specializing in supplying, installing, and restoring Insulated Metal Panels (IMP) for various corporations from food industries to aerospace facilities.
Position SummaryThe Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of construction projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. This role works closely with project managers, estimators, vendors, and subcontractors to monitor project financial performance and maintain proper accounting records.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full‑cycle accounting for multiple construction projects
- Track project costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses
- Monitor job cost reports and analyze variances against budgets
- Prepare and process progress billings and AIA billings
- Ensure compliance with percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition methods
- Manage retainage receivables and payables
- Review contracts to ensure accurate billing terms
- Process vendor invoices and subcontractor payments
- Verify lien waivers and insurance documentation
- Manage collections and follow up on outstanding receivables
- Complete bi‑weekly payroll across multiple states
- Coordinate payroll tax filings and payments (federal, state and local)
- Ensure accuracy with calculation of wages, overtime and deductions
- Prepare quarterly and annual payroll reports including W‑2, 941 and 1099
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Complete monthly journal entries
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Perform month‑end and year‑end closing procedures
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction accounting standards
- Assist with audits and tax filings
- Maintain internal controls and financial policies
- Monitor bonding and insurance requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- 3‑7 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project‑based accounting
- Strong knowledge of job costing and WIP reporting
- Experience with construction accounting software specifically Deltek Computer Ease
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
