Position Overview
Twyford CE High School is seeking to appoint an inspirational Gospel and contemporary singing tutor, who will also lead the Junior Gospel Choir. Junior Gospel is the training choir for the highly successful “Sacred” (Twyford Gospel Choir), which is run by The Kingdom Choir Foundation, and led by Karen Gibson MBE.
This role includes 1:1 half hour lessons, teaching individual singing pupils in Gospel/Contemporary style (currently c. 6–8 hours p/w) and leading weekly rehearsals of the Junior Gospel Choir (currently on Friday lunchtimes). This role would suit a teacher who is inspired to pass on their experience of Gospel singing and with some existing experience of leading and inspiring youth groups in a worship or community setting.

- Lead weekly rehearsals of the Junior Gospel Choir on Friday lunchtimes.
- Contribute to the musical development of students through preparing them for entry to practical examinations through the ABRSM, Trinity and Rock school boards as well as GCSE and A‑Level performance examinations, and support a wide programme of extra‑curricular activities.
- Experience in teaching gospel and/or leading Gospel choirs and working with young people.
Over 350 students receive instrumental tuition through the Music College (based at Twyford School), which comprises four full‑time teachers of music, an administration team, musician‑in‑residence posts and sixteen instrumental tutors. Tuition is offered on voice, strings, woodwind, brass, guitar, drums, piano, keyboard and theory and instrumental tutors are a significant and valued part of the music college team.
All are expected to contribute to the musical development of students through preparing them for entry to practical examinations through the ABRSM, Trinity and Rock school boards as well as GCSE and A‑Level performance examinations. Tutors also contribute significantly to a wide programme of extra‑curricular activities. Twyford Church of England High School is the founding school of the Twyford CE Academies Trust which is the highest performing Trust in the UK. It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages and a reputation for excellence which has made it heavily oversubscribed. Twyford has very strong Christian foundations and is rated “Outstanding” in all areas by Ofsted (October 2023) and was very successful in its SIAMS inspection (November 2024).
Twyford educates 1000 students in years 7–11 and consistently achieves outstanding GCSE results with a Progress 8 score of +1.26 in 2023 and +1.1 in 2024. Twyford’s students achieve strong results with 81% of students achieving a grade 5 or above in English and Maths, and an Attainment 8 score of 67 in 2025. The school has a large Sixth Form of over 650 students and offers a wide range of A‑Levels with strong results across the 25 subjects on offer.
In 2025 nearly 50% of A levels were graded A or A and over 75% graded B or above.
The majority of Sixth Form students progress to university taking a wide range of routes including competitive courses such as Medicine and Engineering at Oxbridge and top Russell Group universities. There is also an Additional Resourced Centre for students with EHC Plans, mainly focused on students with Autism and Speech & Language difficulties. The school prides itself on its inclusive approaches and there is an active House System and Sixth Form Community Service Programme which supports this.
