SEN Teaching Assistant

A supportive and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Islington is seeking a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with SEMH needs, including anxiety and emotional regulation challenges. This is a long:term position for the remainder of the academic year, starting as soon as possible.

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Support the pupil in managing anxiety, building resilience and developing coping strategies.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals to implement tailored support plans.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the pupils individual needs and encourage engagement.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.

• Experience supporting children with SEMH, anxiety, or behavioural needs (school:based experience desirable).
• Calm, patient and resilient with a nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship:building skills.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies and trauma:informed practice.
• Reliable and able to commit to a long:term role starting ASAP.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification, Psychology graduate) are desirable but not essential.
