Position Summary
Old World Wisconsin is a 600-acre outdoor living history museum located in Eagle, Wisconsin. Guests explore homes, farms, and businesses that come from across Wisconsin, exploring stories of place and perseverance from the 1840s to the 1930s. With a focus on hands exploration and immersive spaces, OWW is a celebrated destination for families and friends making new memories, sharing stories, and connecting to Wisconsin's past as they get inspired for their own futures.
Staff work in historic indoor and outdoor spaces in the beauty of the Kettle Moraine State Forest to bring history to life for tens of thousands of guests each summer.
Education Facilitators are the frontline, living history interpreters for Wisconsin's largest outdoor living history attraction. Facilitators wear period-appropriate clothing and demonstrate the daily life of rural Mid westerners in the mid-19th to early 20th centuries, creating immersive and engaging experiences for guests.
Education Facilitators lead guided programs for PK-12 learning groups. Program outlines ensure clear outcomes and essential questions, providing background information to support deeper inquiry. The work is hands on and full of questions and play. Daily set up and housekeeping are required to keep our spaces clean, safe, and accessible for learners.
* Create an engaging and rich experience for learners of all ages and backgrounds by being positive, welcoming, and engaging.
* Facilitate exploration of the "Essential Questions" and stories.
* Follow standards established for Best Practice in informal and play-based learning.
* Perform tasks/trades that demonstrate the typical daily life of rural Mid westerners, including using historic methods and tools.
* Perform daily housekeeping and operational tasks to ensure spaces and programs are guest ready.
* Participate in required training sessions and be familiar with content guides and historic source material.
* Maintain the integrity of the site's collection of objects and buildings through regular upkeep and maintenance, reporting issues to appropriate supervisor when needed.
Work Environment and
Schedule:
* Work is performed in historic structures lacking modern climate control or in outdoor environments while wearing period-appropriate clothing (provided).
* Two - five days per week with opportunities to work into the fall.
Salary Information
Pay is $14.50 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 18-00.
Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.
Job Details
A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 35 hours per week.
Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.
Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.
WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

* Comfortable facilitating experiences for PK-12 learners, caregivers, teachers, and chaperones.
* Excellent communication skills, with groups and one-on-one.
* Thrive in an environment where every day is different.
* Use email and enter time using computer technology.
* Work independently with minimal supervision.
* Use critical thinking and problem-solving to handle multiple tasks with a positive attitude.
* Safely maneuver through historic buildings and outdoor locations, up to 1/2 mile, several times per day.
