Licensed Vocational Nurse – PRN

Altus Community Healthcare is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse on a per‑request (PRN) basis. The role is located at STAT Specialty Hospital’s Emergency Department and involves providing direct nursing care to assigned patients under RN supervision.

• Perform vitals, blood draws, IV insertions, and EKGs as indicated.
• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care; perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
• Use the nursing plan of care in daily activities; review and, under supervision, modify the plan as needed.
• Observe and record signs, symptoms, behaviors, and physiological status of patients; propose intervention revisions and desired outcomes.
• Deliver specified nursing interventions in alignment with the medical plan of care.
• Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff of patient status changes; identify care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential crises.
• Follow physician orders in the delivery of nursing care.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of health information.
• Safely administer medications and treatments.
• Execute written physician orders for assigned patients.
• Assemble equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures; assist or perform procedures as required.
• Adhere to infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques.
• Document nursing care in all assigned patient records.
• Comply with internal departmental controls.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas.
• Current BLS certification.

• License as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in Texas.
• Current BLS certification.

• Reading and comprehension of simple written instructions and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Effective oral communication in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings.
• Basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent, and bar‑graph interpretation.
• Application of common sense in written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
• Problem‑solving with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
