Recreation Program Supervisor
Pay: $45.68 - $59.23 per hour
Full-Time, Exempt, Benefit Eligible
Join our collaborative and innovative recreation team as a Recreation Supervisor. In this dynamic role, you will plan and develop year‑round programs for residents of all ages, oversee scheduling of outdoor athletic facilities, and create engaging events. This position focuses on program planning, development, supervision, evaluation, promotion, and performance of administrative tasks relevant to facility and program operations. Additional duties include event management, recreation programming, athletic facility coordination, and management.

- Plan, develop, administer, and evaluate recreation programs that provide year‑around activities for City residents and recommend program changes to reflect community needs.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise seasonal instructors, program assistants, leaders, assistants, and volunteers.
- Plan, organize, and conduct programs and activities in assigned program areas, including Preschool Programs, Youth & Family, Teens, Special Events, Arts & Culture, Adult Sports, Outdoor Facilities, and Older Adults.
- Provide responsive and helpful customer service that meets community needs.
- Develop publicity and information programs using brochures, newspapers, flyers, newsletters, social media, and other communications.
- Serve as liaison to community organizations to maximize communication and collaboration.
- Prepare program budgets, monitor and analyze program area budgets, and obtain supplies, materials, and services.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, attend meetings, and keep supervisor informed of progress.
- Coordinate year‑round outdoor facility use for the City of Eagan.
- Direct supervision of full‑time recreation programmers, seasonal employees, volunteers, independent contractors, and vendors.
- Occasional indirect supervision of seasonal staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation, Sports Management, Event Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Five (5) years of experience in recreation programming.
- Three (3) years of experience supervising staff.
- Experience with Recreation Management Software.
- NRPA Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.
- Two (2) years of experience working with community organizations.
- Previous work with diverse populations.
- Experience working with non‑profit boards and community organizations.
- Experience operating community recreation facilities.
- 50% office, 50% field – This is not a virtual position.
- FLSA exempt.
- Work hours are a combination of daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
- Incumbent will manage a complex working environment with multiple priorities, tasks, and constituencies.
