The City of Eagan is hiring seasonal Street Maintenance Workers. This position will assist with the maintenance of city and fleet equipment, buildings, streets, and associated right of ways. This position works up to 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm (hours may vary). This is a seasonal/temporary position, not to exceed 6 months.

• Perform any combination of the following duties:
  • Repairs to asphalt and gravel road surfaces including patching, overlays, and crack sealing.
  • Install, maintain, and replace street identification and traffic control signs and pavement markings.
  • Concrete curb and sidewalk repair and replacement.
  • Street cleaning operations, catch basin repairs and cleaning.
  • Loading and hauling of material for street maintenance and repair/equipment maintenance.
  • Boulevard, ditch, and right of way cleaning and rough‑cut mowing.
  • Minor vehicle, building, and grounds maintenance.
  • General shop and building cleanup.
  • Equipment and vehicle parts pickup.
  • Vehicle maintenance, pickup, and delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assist other City staff as assigned.
• Safety operate the following equipment:
  • Pick‑up trucks, 1‑ton trucks.
  • Floor sweeper.
  • Miscellaneous power tools.
  • Miscellaneous construction tools and equipment.
  • Miscellaneous tools associated with equipment maintenance.
  • Other street maintenance related equipment.

• 18 years of age or older by start of employment.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Progress towards or completed High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co‑workers.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Must be able to physically perform the job duties assigned under the working conditions described.

• Previous experience in public works street maintenance, equipment maintenance, light construction, bituminous, concrete work.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Class B or Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tank vehicle endorsement and no air brake restriction.

75% Outdoor, field environment

25% Indoor, shop environment

Employees required to work outdoors in all weather conditions experienced in Eagan. Weather conditions encountered may include heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc. Employees are required to wear a City‑issued uniform.

40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Typical hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, but hours may vary. This position is not eligible for benefits. As a public employee with the City of Eagan,
