Job Description

This is a hybrid role. They need to be both technical (able to build complex logic into existing report code) and possess strong analysis skills. A Business Analyst (BA) alone wouldn’t be technical enough. Some additional details are below.

The key and primary skillset/expertise we are seeking is that of a data analyst proven to be highly skilled in a complex data environment, preferably within the healthcare payer warehouse space.

The initial work involves redirecting existing BI reports to multiple existing and new data sources that are disparate and complex. This will require extensive analysis and profiling, with substantial logic to be built into the report code, due to new data sources with minimal logic.

This role is part of a major project within BCBSMN, responsible for redirecting various BI Reports and Data Assets to new data sources. This involves complex analysis between existing and new data sources with multiple differences and grains. The work may also include analyzing and rewriting Semantic Data Views to point to new sources. The primary function is data analysis.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsibility for highly complex healthcare data analysis, data profiling, and creating detailed data mappings to redirect/rewrite BI Reports, ensuring minimal disruption and meeting business needs. Significant logic will need to be built into reports.
  • Gathering and documenting detailed business and technical requirements; leading discussions with business stakeholders, including requirements gathering, profiling reviews, approvals, and coordination.
  • Contributing to metadata documentation with business definitions.
  • Leading and motivating the work unit, supporting results, and acting as a team lead in addition to primary analysis responsibilities.
  • Analyzing and modifying existing or creating new semantic data views used by business users or reports.
Qualifications

Base

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven high-quality analysis in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in writing efficient, complex SQL queries.
  • Extensive experience in data warehouse environments supporting complex reporting and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare data across multiple domains.
  • Ability to work effectively through ambiguity and understand data dependencies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven success in fast-paced project environments.
  • Proactive, self-starting attitude, with quick productivity post-onboarding.

Preferred/Added Value

Qualifications:

Experience with SAS or BI data analysis roles involving SAS development in healthcare payer organizations.
