How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
The Metering & Alarm Systems Operator OR Senior Metering & Alarm Systems Operator monitors and operates the infrastructure system's lift stations, meters, relief structures, generators, etc. by diagnosing, troubleshooting and responding to routine, non-routine and emergency situations; identifies and dispatches appropriate personnel for response action; documents activities, and serves as central point of communication for the interceptor system and treatment plant facilities to ensure unobstructed conveyance of raw sewage/wastewater to water resource recovery facilities in the Metro service area for treatment.
The Metering & Alarm Systems Operator is the entry level position in the series that requires the guidance of a senior staff and/or management in terms of decision making. Assignments are usually made in specific terms with defined objectives and are performed under continuing supervision in a training capacity. Work is performed with less supervision and more responsibility with increased experience.
This class of Metering & Alarm Operator is distinguished from Senior Metering & Alarm Operator in that the latter is at the journey-level expected to function with a higher degree of independence on a range of assignments and has the experience, knowledge, ability, and skillset to train in a new Metering & Alarm Systems Operator.
The Senior Metering & Alarm Systems Operator is differentiated by hands on experience specific to interceptor or collection systems operations, knowledge of system terminology and purpose, familiarity of SCADA functions, ability to work independently and without guidance or supervision.
