This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)As a Team Member, it is essential to be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, fulfilling all of the following requirements:
- Thank the Customer
- Engage with the customer and/or pet
- Advise on products or services
- Make it Memorable
- Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
- Merchandise recovery
- Participate in freight process
- Complete Plan-o-gram procedures
- Assemble merchandise
- Perform janitorial duties
- Execute price changes/markdowns
- Assist customers with loading purchases
- Ensure safety and well-being of live animals, including sanitizing and maintaining tanks
- Complete all related documentation
Experience:
No experience required; retail or pet/live animal knowledge preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.
- Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution with minimal conflict.
- Generally indoor environment with moderate noise.
- Hard surface floors and outdoor lots with adequate lighting and temperature.
- Work shifts typically no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
- Promote safety and adhere to safety guidelines.
- This is a non-sedentary position requiring movement throughout the store and outdoor areas.
- Operate store equipment safely and efficiently.
- Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
- Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently.
- Move throughout the store for entire shifts.
- Access all store areas safely.
- Operate store equipment constantly.
- Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
- Communicate effectively with team and customers.
- Process merchandise through POS system.
- Transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Complete all required training and certification.
