Quality Assurance Micro Lab Tech
Quality Assurance Team
Duties & Responsibilities- Aseptically performs microbiology sampling, plating, and testing of samples daily.
- Conducts microbiological qualitative or quantitative analyses by following all SOPs and laboratory methods, including media preparations, sample preparation, plate samples, air plates, water testing, swabs, and reading plates.
- Enters all microbiological data and maintains proper record keeping for media preparation, autoclaves, pH.
- Demonstrates proficiency in all assigned microbiological tests, submitting accurate and timely results based on the analysis.
- Creates customer-required COA’s and communicates results in a timely manner.
- Has general understanding of SAP system, releasing, blocking, and unblocking of finished products.
- Communicates out-of-specification results to department supervisor/manager, sanitation, and production managers if needed.
- Identifies and communicates results that require further discussion with Department Manager/Supervisor.
- Assists in maintaining quality system records to comply with all accrediting agencies.
- Performs regular maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments by inspecting, calibrating, cleaning, or sterilizing.
- Learns new techniques and technologies as appropriate.
- Participates in special projects as assigned by the Department Manager/Supervisor.
- Maintains a clean and sterilized laboratory environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Four-year college degree preferred or equivalent education, training, and/or experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a QA role within the food production industry.
- PCQI training or HACCP certification preferred.
- Ability to pass Comprehension and Math Tests.
- Must have computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP, and AS400.
- Good understanding of GMPs, analytical and microbiological testing.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, complying with established policies and procedures.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures and all OSHA, EPA and other regulatory rules and regulations (think “S A F E T Y F I R S T”).
- Recognize unsafe acts and conditions in the facility and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Fully complete appropriate paperwork related to specific job functions in addition to quality and safety/training.
