The Maintenance Technician is a team member who participates in equipment repair and preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and align with company goals, business unit KPIs, and core values of safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and customer service. The technician is expected to maintain open communication with other departments (Quality, Warehouse, Production, etc.) and to address production priorities and shortfalls promptly.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Apply maintenance troubleshooting skills across a wide range of machine applications, including VFDs, electrical controls, power distribution, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, HVAC, and more.
- Communicate technical issues and improvement ideas to Maintenance Manager and Production Manager.
- Document repairs and findings on work orders for the Maintenance Management System.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs during shutdowns, which may require weekend work or shift reassignment.
- Support installation and startup of new equipment.
- Execute welding and machine shop tasks related to equipment repair.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors or technical reps for rebuilds, service visits, and training to reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot control wiring and relay logic; diagnose motor drives and control system devices.
- Use digital volt meters, mega ohm meters, and amp probes to diagnose electrical problems.
- Adjust machine settings and assist with product changeovers as needed.
- Read multimeters, technical manuals, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints, as well as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures in metric and standard units.
- Work with AC/DC control circuits (120 VAC/24 VDC) and power distribution systems (480/277 VAC).
- Perform physically demanding tasks including bending, stooping, standing on concrete floors, and working overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Report food safety and quality concerns to appropriate supervisors or senior management, supporting the SQF system and plant policies.
- Committed team worker with a keen sense of responsibility and excellent attention to detail.
- 2 years of technical school or an associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
