Dyersburg State Community College invites applicants for sociology adjunct instructor positions for day, evening, and online classes held in Dyersburg, Covington, Paris, or at one of our other off‑campus centers. Initial assignment may be at one of our teaching locations, but the official workstation assignment may change each semester. The successful applicant will become certified and fully use the course management system (eLearn) for all classes.
The applicant will also attend required meetings, report attendance, early alert notifications, and final grades prior to the established deadline, and will communicate curriculum and personnel needs or changes as appropriate to their assigned chair/dean. This position reports to the Chair of Humanities/Social Sciences and the Dean of Arts, Sciences, & Technologies.
- Teach assigned courses for the discipline in Covington, Dyersburg, and/or Paris; prepare course materials; evaluate student learning, maintain class records, and submit required reports on time.
Sedentary:
Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal hazard/exposure:
Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in Sociology.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and other college personnel.
