FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS WILL TAKE PLACE ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2026Under general supervision and as part of a service‑oriented team, the Building Official reports to the Community Development Director and performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, supervisory, and technical tasks in administering and enforcing building and related codes. Exercises supervision over building inspectors, plan reviewers, permit technicians, support staff, and other part‑time or temporary staff, and consultants as assigned.
- Manages and supervises assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff; reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
- Provides leadership and direction to the team; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports, and recommendationsregano; coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
- Provides technical building code advice to supervisors; makes presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups, and the general public.
- Communicates official programs, policies, and procedures to staff and the general public.
- Prepares, in consultation with the Community Development Director, the annual operating budget of the Building Department. < ಉದ್ಯ
- Administers the annual operating budget of the Building Department. Ensures the department operates within budget; monitors revenues and expenditures to ensure sound fiscal control; ensures efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow; studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
- Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances; performs or assists subordinates in performing duties; adjusts errors and complaints.
- Enforces a variety of codes, including the International Building Code, Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code, Fire Code, Uniform Housing Code, Uniform Abatement of Dangerous Buildings Code招; and local codes such as sprinkling, nuisance clearing, grading, filling, and zoning.
- Issues correction notices and citations.
- Explains, interprets, and provides guidance regarding all applicable codes to architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and other interested parties.
