We are working with a respected client based in the Northeast of England, near Durham for a Head of Serious Injury, on a full-time permanent basis. This is a senior leadership role within a specialist medico-legal services environment, responsible for leading the Serious Injury division. The position has full accountability for strategy, operational delivery, regulatory compliance, client relationships, and commercial performance.
The role will drive service excellence, profitable growth, and continuous improvement while leading high-performing operational teams and managing expert networks in a highly regulated setting.
What You Can Expect:
* Salary £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience
* Hybrid working

* 23 days holiday, rising to 25 after 2 years, then 27 after 5 years, plus additional holiday purchase scheme (available after probation)

What You Will Be Doing:
* A senior leadership role with ownership of a key specialist service line
* Accountability for departmental strategy, operational performance, and profitability
* Responsibility for regulatory compliance across complex medico-legal frameworks
* Close collaboration with Sales, Finance, IT, and Change teams
* Ownership of quality assurance, continuous improvement, and digitisation initiatives
* Direct influence on client satisfaction, expert performance, and service scalability
* Leadership of a high-performing, specialist operations team
* Defining and delivering the Serious Injury departmental strategy aligned to wider business objectives
* Leading the end-to-end operational delivery of medico-legal reporting for serious injury cases
* Ensuring compliance with Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), GDPR, Med Co, and relevant industry standards
* Driving commercial growth, revenue performance, and profitability of Serious Injury services
* Owning quality assurance frameworks to improve report quality and reduce addenda rates
What We Are Looking For :
* Proven operational leader with experience in regulated, service-driven environments
* Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability
* High level of commercial awareness with the ability to balance service quality and profitability
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in serious injury medico-legal reporting or leadership within a personal injury law firm, preferred
* Experience managing regulatory compliance and governance frameworks
* Experience leading teams to deliver against KPIs and service-level target
Qualifications Required
* Degree in Law, Healthcare, Business, or a related discipline, preferred
Requirements
* Offer subject to a basic DBS check, 3-year financial probity check and 5-year employment history
