We are seeking a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to join a well-established secondary school in Durham
. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the school site, ensuring that our students and staff have a safe and welcoming environment in which to work and learn.

• Location: Durham (Accessible via A1(M) and A690)

• Salary: £24,500 – £28,000 (Durham County Council Scale)

• Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Year-round)

• Hours: Split shifts (e.g., 06:30–10:30 and 14:30–18:30)

• Site Security: Acting as a primary key holder, responsible for the daily opening and securing of the school buildings and grounds.

• General Maintenance: Carrying out first-line repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, joinery, and painting, as well as managing the school’s heating and lighting systems.

• Health & Safety: Performing regular safety checks, including fire alarm testing, water temperature monitoring (Legionella), and playground equipment inspections.

• Porterage: Assisting with the movement of furniture and equipment for assemblies, exams, and school events.
