Job SummaryThe Aggregates Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering construction aggregates to customer job sites, ensuring that materials are delivered safely, on time, and in the correct quantities. The role requires the safe operation of company trucks, adherence to delivery schedules, and compliance with all transportation regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Transporting Aggregates:
Drive heavy‑duty trucks (e.g., dump trucks, flatbeds) to deliver aggregates such as gravel, sand, crushed stone, and other construction materials to job sites. - Delivery Management:
Verify orders before dispatch and ensure the correct materials are loaded and delivered in specified quantities. - Customer Service:
Communicate with customers at delivery sites to ensure satisfaction and handle on‑site adjustments or special requirements. - Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe driving practices. - Pre‑Trip Inspections:
Perform daily inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels. - Route Planning:
Plan efficient delivery routes based on traffic conditions, delivery priorities, and distance to minimize delays and fuel costs. - Maintenance Reporting:
Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed for the truck or equipment to the management team. - Loading/Unloading:
Assist with loading and unloading materials (sometimes with the help of a helper or crane) while ensuring all safety precautions are followed. - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery logs, fuel records, and inspection reports. - Communication:
Keep in touch with dispatch to confirm delivery status and changes in route or schedule.
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B
- Proficient in heavy equipment operation.
- Previous experience driving dump trucks.
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting vehicle issues and performing basic repairs.
- Familiarity with various types of aggregates and their uses in construction projects (a plus).
- Strong understanding of safety practices, regulations, and procedures in the transportation and construction industries.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds and move heavy objects, assist with unloading materials, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, reach, squat, push, and pull objects.
- Ability to regularly lift to 50 pounds.
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions.
- The job may involve long hours, including early mornings, weekends, and occasional overtime to meet delivery schedules.
