The Grading CDL Driver Contracting is responsible for driving and operating a dump truck, water truck, flat bed, or other vehicle as assigned. This position may perform other duties on the crew as needed such as shoveling, installing erosion control, checking grade, carrying materials, driving posts, operating small tools such as tamps and jumping jacks, rollers, broom tractors, and any other tasks directed by the foreman.

The role requires frequent observation/inspection, detailed instructions, and short-term assignments. Good judgment and common sense are required. Normal work hours are day or night shift, eight to fourteen hours Monday through Friday, with potential weekend work and minimal overnight travel (up to 10%). • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or Manager Safety and Health.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20,008, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.
• Safely operates and maintains a commercial motor vehicle, including dump truck, flat bed, service truck, water truck, or other assigned vehicle.
• Responsible for performing pre-shift/pre-trip inspections and filling out respective reports.
• Performs all work in a safe, efficient manner, following routine and all standards of performance. Work is repetitive and continuous.
• Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Performs other duties assigned.

• Ability to read a limited number of two and three-syllable English words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• Tanker endorsement required.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred, but not required. Two (2) years of prior driving experience required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

• Current Class B CDL is required. Tanker required, Haz/Mat preferred. Other combination of licensure/endorsements may be considered.
