- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering. (Preferred)
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. (Preferred)
- 2 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems. (Preferred)
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.
Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. On the SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale unique to Google, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis, and large-scale system design.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and other factors. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note the compensation details reflect the base salary only, excluding bonus, equity, or benefits.

- Write product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
