Overview

Nationwide’s NF Integrated Digital Services is seeking a Technical Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic Imaging & Workflow team. This is a pivotal time for the IW space, with major initiatives underway in 2026. The team manages critical applications including AWD‑NF, NF Capture, NRS, URBO, and OnTrack.

• Lead the design, development, and testing of scalable backend services and APIs.
• Deliver high‑quality, maintainable code using Java and modern development tools.
• Drive unit and integration testing using JUnit and Mockito.
• Collaborate across teams to architect and implement technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems for performance and reliability.
• Champion Agile practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide expertise in platform stability and run support.

• Strong proficiency in Java, JUnit/Mockito, SQL, and Git Hub.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Ruby, Tosca, or Playwright.
• Strong aptitude working in Linux environments and using command‑line tools.
• Solid understanding of backend architecture and API development.
• Familiarity with Oracle Databases.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Apigee, Liquibase, and Kafka.
• Exposure to Git Hub Actions, Harness, Docker, Splunk, and Rancher.
• Frontend familiarity with Angular and JavaScript.

• Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards.
• Provide strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.
• Drive cross‑collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
• Analyze, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to standards and optimal practices.
• Champion the use of Dev Sec Ops  practices, tooling and techniques.
• Ensure continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.

Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Education
:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.

Experience
:
Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Three years of experience in project management is preferred.
