Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and strategy for customer account management products for Fidelity’s Retail Brokerage clients. Provides stability and resiliency for brokerage applications according to resiliency best practices across distributed, and Cloud platforms. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications for account management. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business unit and participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions.
TheResponsibilities
You Will Have:
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance Java applications for portfolio risk computation and analytics.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers and risk managers to develop models and methodologies into production systems.
- Build APIs and services to deliver real-time and batch risk metrics to stakeholders.
- Optimize data pipelines and computation frameworks for large-scale risk simulations.
- Ensure system reliability, transparency, and auditability across the risk platform.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and agile ceremonies.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring:
- Strong proficiency in Java, with experience in building distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of multithreading, memory management, and performance tuning.
- Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka).
- Familiarity with financial instruments and risk concepts such as VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Exposure to data technologies and time-series databases.
- Prior experience in investment risk, portfolio analytics, or financial modeling.
- Ability to mentor junior developers and contribute to technical leadership.
Candidate Must Also Possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise ('DE') collaborating with product, architecture, and engineering partners to design and deliver institutional wealth management solutions for investment professionals in a financial services domain; refining functional and non-functional requirements, reviewing architectural artifacts, and defining test plans and coverage for software systems that support account management solutions.
- DE understanding Application Programming Interface (API) design principles including microservice design patterns using REST API, Java, Springboot, oAuth, OpenAPI/Swagger; integrating APIs with third-party services and using API Gateway and Apigee for publishing and managing APIs.
- DE building micro front-end applications (using typescript, HTML5, CSS, and Angular frameworks) that service user experiences and using the configuration system to build scalable front-end applications within a financial domain; and performing JavaScript unit and integration testing on front-end Web applications, using Jasmine and Karma.
- DE building and deploying Cloud applications using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodology, Jenkins, Terracore, and Kubernetes; developing observability metrics and views that provide insight into application health, using Datadog and Splunk; identifying error patterns and infrastructure issues, and proactively triggering alerts to production support and technology teams to support critical financial applications, using Cloud concepts -- Containerizations, Blue/Green Deployments, Replica-sets, Autoscaling, and Pods.
