Sr Software Engineer – CX
Join Cisco’s Customer Experience (CX) Engineering team as a Software Engineer specializing in Gen AI Application development with a background in networking.
MEET THE TEAMYou will be an integral part of the Customer Experience (CX) Engineering team delivering software and technology that supports our delivery engineers and customers. CX acts as the customer’s trusted advisor and expert, helping the customer understand their network, reduce risks, and take advantage of technology.
YOUR IMPACTAs a Software Engineer in CX Engineering, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Cisco’s customer experience platform. Working with a team of high‑performing engineers, you will design and implement solutions that support new business models and address business challenges, directly contributing to Cisco’s journey.
- Develop and deliver high‑quality applications that power Cisco’s customer‑facing platforms, enhancing the experience for Cisco’s customers.
- Take ownership of projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial concept and architecture design to implementation, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Drive continuous improvement by contributing to system architecture decisions, optimizing performance, and ensuring robust, maintainable solutions.
- Partner closely with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions that create tangible value for Cisco’s customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field with 7+ years of experience or a Master’s with 5+ years of experience.
- Development experience in Python, with practical experience developing generative AI applications.
- Experience designing, building, deploying, and maintaining end‑to‑end software systems—from architecture to production.
- Expertise in building and integrating APIs, as well as designing and managing databases such as SQL and No
SQL. - Experience using Kubernetes (K8s) and related technologies, including experience with custom resource definitions (CRDs).
- Experience working with large language model (LLM) frameworks (e.g., Lang Chain) and observability platforms (e.g., Lang Smith).
- Practical experience working with multiple large language models (LLMs), including but not limited to OpenAI, Anthropic, and Mistral.
- Familiarity with modern front‑end web frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Experience integrating with Model Context Protocols and related ecosystem tools.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills, especially for diagnosing complex, system‑level issues.

CompensationThe starting salary range posted for this position is $ to $ and reflects the projected salary range for new hires in this position in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits.
Benefits- 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non‑exempt employees.
- 1 paid day off for employee’s birthday, paid year‑end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco.
- Non‑exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at 4.92 hours per pay period for full‑time employees.
- Exempt employees participate in Cisco’s flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations).
- 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next.
- Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members.
- Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer.
