Join Cisco as a Staff Software Engineer
We’re building Cisco’s Unified Catalog – a single catalog of all Cisco datasets and knowledge objects. As part of the Splunk Metadata Catalog (MDC) team, you will help create a Knowledge Graph that enables users to discover data, understand relationships, and trace lineage between objects. This role is central to Cisco Data Fabric vision and offers fast‑paced innovation and cutting‑edge technology.
YourImpact
- Design and architect multiple high‑level features in collaboration with technical leaders and architects.
- Lead the team through development, execution, and delivery of features within Splunk release cycles.
- Partner with product teams to ensure customer‑impactful feature delivery.
- Drive overall product quality, fostering a developer‑owned quality mindset within the team.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Bachelor’s + 8 years of related experience, or Master’s + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years.
- Proven track record building new services/features within a larger product on cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, CI/CD.
- Hands‑on experience in an object‑oriented language such as Golang, C++, Java.
- Agile and lean practices enabling fast‑paced CI/CD and iterative product development.
- Strong experience with graph databases (Neo4j, AWS Neptune, Apache AGE) and/or building knowledge graphs.
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, software design, and architecture of distributed systems.
- Strong focus on product quality and performance.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Experience building products in the Data Catalog space (Data Hub, Unity Catalog, Glue).
- Ability to navigate uncertainty, change, and adapt quickly.
- Passion for learning, adapting, and succeeding.
U.S./Canada salary range: $149,100 – $218,900 (excluding incentive compensation, equity, or benefits). Total compensation varies by location, market conditions, and experience.
