The Data Technician Lead will be responsible for the physical installation of cabling, overseeing the work of others, surveying work sites to determine best installation practices, coordinating workflow within the unit, and providing on‑the‑job training to other technicians as needed.
Essential Functions- Lead technical teams of varying sizes on small- and large-scale projects.
- Communicate with PM on manpower and material needs.
- Communicate with clients/customers.
- Serve as liaison between office and field, conveying all non-confidential information.
- Develop project plans including required materials, delivery schedules, completion schedules, manpower requirements, and tool/equipment lists.
- Track tools and materials to prevent loss.
- Adhere to safety protocols and complete required documentation.
- Maintain housekeeping for a safe jobsite.
- Communicate with other trades on jobsite.
- Monitor project schedule and milestones, providing progress updates as needed.
- Read and understand applicable drawing sets:
Architectural, AV, Electrical (as they relate to telecom), Reflected Ceiling, Telecommunications, Overall site plans.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in construction-related software (Plan Grid, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Willingness to push back on other trades in an effective and professional manner.
- Ability to resolve conflict both internally and externally.
- Ability to create a team atmosphere.
- Complete understanding of blueprints and related architectural symbols.
- High level of understanding of fire stopping principles as they pertain to telecom pathways.
- Familiarity with MS Office suite and other software applicable to the role, including but not limited to: MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, Bluebeam.
Skills And Abilities
- All T1/T2/T3 requirements.
- OSHA 30 (preferred but not required). Minimum OSHA 10.
- Aerial lift certification.
- Fall protection certification/training.
Spends more than two-thirds of time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching; approximately one-third of time walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting of materials weighing 25–50 pounds, with occasional lifting over 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Work EnvironmentMay involve travel to project sites and exposure to various environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and use of hand tools or hardware. May require frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
