Job Summary

Understands and complies with all state and federal OSHA safety regulations such as Lock-Out Tag-Out Confined Space Entry, adheres to the site Safety Program, maintains knowledge of hand and power tools, utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planned, unplanned, and corrective maintenance, tracks inventory in work orders, works with vendors and contractors for quotes and direct oversight on site, operates, maintains, and repairs installed equipment, schedules and prioritizes daily repairs for mechanical staff, follows company safety and environmental policies, performs additional duties or projects for career development (safety, equipment, special projects), reads and interprets technical manuals and blueprints, aligns pumps and motors up to 75HP, communicates effectively with team members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complies with all state and federal OSHA safety regulations (Lock-Out Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry)
  • Adheres to the site Safety Program
  • Knows and skills with hand and power tools
  • Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planned, unplanned, and corrective repairs
  • Adds/completes work orders, tracks inventory, and adds inventory to work orders
  • Works with vendors and contractors on quotes for repairs and parts and directs vendors and contractors on site
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs installed equipment
  • Schedules and prioritizes repairs daily for mechanical staff
  • Familiar with all aspects of the company’s safety and environmental policies and practices, adopting consistent work practices and participating fully in safety and environmental awareness programs
  • Performs additional duties or projects for career development (safety training, equipment training, special projects as requested by the client or plant management)
  • Reads and interprets technical manuals and blueprints to perform maintenance and repairs
  • Aligns pumps and motors up to 75HP
  • Communicates effectively with team members to relay equipment status or malfunctions
Qualifications
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of a steam facility
  • Experience with gas and steam turbines along with chiller plant equipment desirable
  • Willingness to learn the operation of Combined Heat and Power and Central Utility Plants, including startup operations and maintenance of all installed equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent, comparable technical education, and 7 years documented work-related experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and thorough understanding of installed machinery and equipment, with ability to recommend and make necessary repairs
  • Willingness to work overtime as required to maintain equipment reliability and uptime
  • Ability to interpret system schematic diagrams and troubleshoot systems and equipment utilizing them
  • Ability to work in a power plant in a university environment
  • Experience with prioritizing and directing work desirable
