Microscopy Account Manager – North Carolina
Leica Microsystems – Life Sciences Research Sales Team (Remote, up to 60% travel)
About the RoleThe Account Manager is responsible for growth and expansion of direct sales and profit margins for Leica Microsystems (LMS) products and services across North Carolina. You will establish professional relationships with key personnel in customer accounts, meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars, and manage accounts through direct and channel partner relationships. The role focuses on all LMS applications except Medical and Applied, ensuring complete product portfolio management while identifying and driving sales opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop strategies to generate funnel and increase sales/market share of Leica products in the assigned territory; recommend product, pricing, and sales promotion strategies.
- Identify selling opportunities across product lines, primarily in confocal and widefield portfolios; lead team selling efforts in all assigned accounts.
- Partner effectively with Sales Managers, PLT members, Customer Service Technicians & Representatives, Engineers, Accounting, and Manufacturing to satisfy customer needs.
- Apply rigorous standard work to manage pipeline from opportunity creation to closing, including Salesforce opportunity management, visual forecasting, and execution of next actions.
- Collaborate with customers and experts to generate field data, application notes, or publications that highlight product benefits and differentiate Leica products.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of successful sales experience for technical products.
- Demonstrated core understanding of microscopy, imaging, and applications.
- Strong relationship‑building, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of commercial, government, university, or other relevant markets.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 60% (primarily domestic, occasional overnight).
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Base salary range: $80,000–$85,000, plus eligible bonus/incentive pay.
