General

Position Summary

At Lids, our Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand. These cap experts foster a passion for sporting and fashion goods by meeting customer needs while ensuring store performance and a fun, inclusive environment. Store Managers are accountable for all aspects of retail store performance, including achieving key results, creating a supportive team culture, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Principal

Duties and Responsibilities People & Training Development
  • Manage the store’s hiring strategy, including planning needs, recruitment strategy, projected turnover, and leaves of absence.
  • Assist the market’s Authorized Trainer in coordinating onboarding to acclimate new team members to Lids.
  • Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment, helping them understand how their work supports company objectives.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive working relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
  • Update team member information and approve time off requests, shift swaps, and other employee records.
  • Lead and monitor the store’s ongoing training strategy, including training for non-Keyholders and new program initiatives.
  • Address employee concerns or issues and partner with internal support as needed.
  • Drive team engagement through recognition, check‑ins, performance management, and career growth support.
  • Collaborate across store channels and districts using company discussion boards or regional chat platforms.
Customer Experience
  • Lead and execute the Selling 101 strategy to achieve sales KPIs and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Resolve customer feedback and escalations promptly, aiming to “make it right.”
  • Direct in‑store team members to ensure optimal customer service and support overall operations.
  • Provide customers with information about Lids membership programs and special offers during in‑store visits.
Operations
  • Ensure team compliance within scheduling and payroll processes, maintaining alignment with policies, budgets, and law.
  • Prepare and manage the schedule, considering team qualifications, availability, and performance.
  • Handle business disruptions and support operational continuity for closures, absenteeism, and other impacts.
  • Execute company‑level directives, promotions, and initiatives.
  • Adhere to the Policies & Procedures Manual, maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Maintain store technology and equipment, conduct daily audits, and coordinate repairs or upgrades.
  • Oversee store facilities, supplies, and service requests, including maintenance or replenishment.
  • Manage cash accurately, including till opening/closing, counterfeit protection, and bank drops.
  • Prepare the store for inventory audits and support audit procedures to confirm inventory accuracy.
Product & Inventory Management
  • Drive overall store product strategy, supervising receiving, processing, merchandising, and product disposition.
  • Organize the backroom to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure product holds meet vendor regulations, including custom embroidery and release dates.
  • Execute weekly markdowns and markups to maintain proper pricing.
  • Track sell‑through and monitor product levels to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Manage transfers or return of products according to company standards.
