Dining Server Assistant

Overview

The Dining Server Assistant position supports The Forest at Duke’s mission by delivering an exceptional dining service experience. This position reports to the Dining Manager or designee.

Moreover, we strive to be the preferred provider of services for older adults in the Durham community.

• Deliver exceptional dining service experiences to residents, families, and guests.
• Assist with meal setup, serving, and cleanup while maintaining professional conduct in a high-stress environment.
• Support the Dining Manager in daily tasks to ensure timely service and quality standards.

• High School or equivalent preferred.
• Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) or healthcare setting experience is highly desired.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to residents, families, guests, and staff.
• Ability to maintain a professional attitude in a high-stress area.

• Ensure that the assigned task is understood prior to beginning the task.
• Manage conflict effectively without becoming emotional or defensive.
• Demonstrate a sincere commitment to serving customers at the highest possible level.
• Organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion.
• Minimize mistakes, errors, and omissions.
• Provide assistance to others when they need it.
• Perform work according to job requirements.
• Arrive on time and ready to work as scheduled.

• Minimum starting pay rate of $13.00 per hour
