Neo Genomics is looking for a Histotechnician in Durham, NC who wants to learn to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is an onsite position with a Tuesday – Saturday or Sunday – Thursday, 12:00pm – 8:30pm shift.

As a Histotechnician you will assist with responsibilities associated with processing specimens for clinical testing and will provide general support for the laboratory following established policies and procedures.

• May train laboratory assistants in the department
• Participates in and initiates process improvement methods and initiatives
• Receives, organizes and processes clinical specimens accurately through the LIMS system; identifies document, computer, and specimen problems and demonstrates ability to either resolve or elevate to AP leadership appropriately
• Prepares and organizes written data, printouts, and other documents for pathologist review
• Prepares testing equipment, assists with preventative maintenance
• Routinely meets productivity expectations
• Performs sample QC, microtomy, operating automated equipment, embedding/re-embedding functions routinely
• Assists in reagent and solution preparation, case consolidation, and imaging slides
• Assists in technical QC review of assays performed

• High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred (i.e. biology, chemistry)
• Two years of experience as non-certified Histotechnician required
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques preferred
• Must have microtomy experience
• Basic understanding of MS Office programs
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently
• Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards
• Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
