As part of the Analytical Production Securitization Industrialization team within the Engineering and Industrialization department, the Associate Process Scientist leads projects to support the manufacturing of BACT/ALERT® Culture Media products. The role interfaces with Manufacturing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance/Validation, R&D, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and other functions to ensure successful project achievements that facilitate quality production meeting on‑time customer demands. The primary focus is on driving cost savings and raw material securitization initiatives, lowering upstream raw material costs while supporting Quality Control and Operations for quality product manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze chemical and/or biologically derived raw materials for secondary/alternate sourcing projects for site securitization and/or cost savings initiatives.
- Execute hands‑on laboratory testing at bench scale, within final product, and through large‑scale validation activities.
- Manage multiple projects, generating assessments to evaluate interim progress and effectiveness.
- Provide project leadership to guide timelines, adjust expectations, and collaborate cross‑functionally.
- Maintain compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- B.S. in Biochemistry or closely related field with 2 years of experience in a regulated industry.
- Alternatively, 6 years of experience in a regulated industry in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- M.S. in Biochemistry or related field preferred.
- Engineering/science role within medical device/diagnostic or pharmaceutical preferred.
- Project Management experience preferred.
- Experience working in a cGMP environment preferred.
- FDA regulated cGMP industry experience preferred.
- Critical thinking, adaptability, time management, communication, problem‑solving, and digital literacy skills.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines through careful prioritization and time management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
- Solution oriented in the face of conflict.
- Drive for results while removing barriers.
- Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally to achieve shared objectives.
- Strong written communication skills for technical data.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like.
- Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.
- Ability to move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
- Domestic travel required 10% of the time.
- International travel required 5% of the time.
Estimated salary range: $75,000 to $114,400. Eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMérieux’s bonus program.
