Travel PICU Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity in Durham, NC – care for complex pediatric cardiac patients using ECMO, VAD, and CRRT. Join a high-acuity Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) delivering advanced pediatric critical care.

- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes
- Orientation: Bi-weekly, 36 hours
- Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents (pediatric critical care)
- Unit Size / Census: 20 beds, daily census of 20
- Minimum 1 year recent PICU or PCICU experience caring for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients
- Active NC RN license or Compact RN license in hand (North Carolina nursing license)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience with ECMO, VADs, CRRT, ventilator and hemodynamic monitoring preferred
- Epic electronic charting experience preferred
- Preferred: prior charge experience, community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II background
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions or declinations accepted)
- One supervisory reference within the last year required
- Must be able to provide compliance documentation promptly
- First-time travel nurses and local candidates within 75 miles are welcome to apply
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric and neonatal cardiac patients
- Manage advanced life support modalities: ECMO, VAD management, CRRT, ventilators, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Administer medications and blood products; manage central lines, chest tubes, and complex IV infusions
- Interpret dysrhythmias, ABGs, and provide rapid response and critical interventions as needed
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary pediatric critical care team including physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Document care accurately in Epic (preferred) and maintain clear communication with families and care teams
- Float to related units when required and participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing education modules
- Adhere to infection control, isolation precautions, and pediatric patient safety protocols at all times
- Work in a high-acuity pediatric cardiac ICU with advanced technologies and complex congenital heart cases
