Job Summary
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in our Duke Allergy Clinics located in Durham and Cary, NC to work in collaboration with attending physicians, collect and document data and provide direct patient care services to general allergy patients. Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. The ideal candidate will be an autonomous, highly motivated Provider with excellent communication and organizational skills who is interested in managing multiple and severe allergic and immunologic conditions in a high-volume, fast-paced outpatient clinic.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments including history taking, physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and managing complex allergic and immunologic conditions. Prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
- Synthesize a patient’s history into a detailed and organized chart note, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient’s record; develop and implement individualized treatment plan with supervising physician to be able to independently reassess at follow-up appointments.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physicians, and maintain record of each patient’s progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient’s progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
- Assist with triage support for same-day, urgent access appointments and in-basket message management; participation in cross coverage of in-basket.
- Able and willing to assess and treat acute allergic or anaphylactic reactions that may occur in our immunotherapy and biologic shot clinic.
- Assist with supervision of immunotherapy and biologic injections that will be given by our team of allergy shot nurses.
- May have opportunities to participate in basic science and clinical research projects conducted by supervising physicians; prepare statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Train new personnel. Participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinical settings.
