Duke University Health System seeks to hire a Clinical Nurse II (RN) in Pediatric Preop and PACU who will embrace our mission of Transforming Lives, Transforming Care.
With over 26,000 patient visits per year, Duke University Hospital’s Perianesthesia Department (PACU) provides world‑renowned patient‑ and family‑centered care. Preferred qualifications:
ACLS preferred, Pre Op, PACU/Critical experience preferred with Pediatric RN experience.
Full‑time, three 12‑hour shifts or four 10‑hour shifts;
Monday‑Friday, holidays as needed; start times vary 5:30 am‑9 am, Monday to Friday.
Our Pre‑op, PACU and Surgical Boarder Units care for patients ranging from ambulatory to ICU levels of care. We focus on technically complex inpatient and outpatient surgeries ranging from transplant to minor ambulatory procedures.
Job SummaryAs a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient‑centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating), you will achieve the goals of the nursing department, plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients, and participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health‑related projects as assigned.
You will provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, adhere to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies, and actively participate in outstanding customer service while maintaining respectful relationships with all.
- Previous work experience (1+ year) as a clinical nurse preferred; at least one year of registered nursing experience required for a CN2 role.
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate’s Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program required.
- Registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete the program within five years.
- Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state required.
- BLS (or higher) certification required.
- Professional specialty certification preferred.
