Duke University Health System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Children’s Health Center at Duke University Hospital. This role supports pediatric outpatient specialty clinics located on Levels 2 and 3 and provides care to ambulatory pediatric patients and families with a wide range of healthcare needs. The nurse in this role may also support care delivery at Lenox Baker Children’s Hospital, offering variety within Duke’s pediatric network.
This position is ideal for pediatric nurses who enjoy collaboration, adaptability, and meaningful patient and family connections in a fast-paced ambulatory environment with predictable scheduling.

Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate is a compassionate, experienced RN with strong communication skills who enjoys working with pediatric patients and families. You are comfortable managing high clinic volumes, adapting to varying patient needs, and contributing to a collaborative care environment.
Minimum qualifications
• At least one year of RN experience required
• Pediatric nursing experience preferred
• IV and/or procedural experience preferred
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-volume clinic setting
What you will do
• Provide professional nursing care to pediatric patients in outpatient specialty clinics
• Perform assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans, and provide patient and family education
• Administer medications and assist with procedures as appropriate
• Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members
• Delegate and collaborate with licensed and unlicensed staff
• Serve as a preceptor and support the development of new staff and learners
• Participate in quality improvement, safety, and performance initiatives
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Duke policies and the North Carolina Board of Nursing
Schedule
• Nine eight-hour day shifts over a two-week period
• Typical hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Average of 36 hours per week
