9300 Medical Oncology at Duke University Hospital provides care for patients with solid tumors from new diagnosis to end of life. The 9300 Medical Oncology unit is a 31‑bed, fast‑paced environment constructed of an elite team of enthusiastic medical oncology registered nurses and nursing care assistants. Our staff have strong assessment skills, value teamwork, and strive to provide excellent patient care. The well‑being of our patients is a top priority. Job Summary

As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will prioritize providing service while caring for the whole person in a patient‑centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities and utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) to achieve the nursing department's goals. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model participating in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health‑related projects as assigned.

Provide nursing services to patients and families under the scope of the R.N. as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Will adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal government rules and regulations and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility for maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Work Performed

Clinical Nurses will plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients following physician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessing the patient's baseline needs and response to care. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Assist other nursing personnel in delivering nursing care and act as a team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.
