Today our programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.

This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.

Position Summary

The Preferred Communities Case Coordinator provides case management services to refugees and other eligible immigrants through the Preferred Communities Program. Services include intensive case management to refugees with acute vulnerabilities and group-based health and wellness services. This position is grant funded and is dependent on continued funding through the federal government.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Provide multi-faceted intensive case management services to refugees, SIVs and other Office of Refugee Resettlement eligible individuals with acute vulnerabilities.
  • Create and implement individualized Self‑Sufficiency Plans in collaboration with clients enrolled in the PC program.
  • Assist clients to learn to navigate independently the U.S. medical system to manage acute health conditions.
  • Coordinate appointments and referrals for medical, mental health, social services, and other community resources.
  • Provide coaching and orientation on obstacles to integration, including mental and physical health, financial management, parenting and family wellness.
  • Conduct group‑based services such as evidence‑based MHPSS groups, health literacy classes and parenting classes.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records including case notes, case files, budgets, and reports.
  • Collaborate with community partners to connect clients to needed services and develop new referral opportunities in the Triangle area.
  • Collaborate with other WRD client service staff to provide holistic services maximizing all core offerings available to clients.
  • Maintain open, ongoing communication with staff, volunteers, and community partners, ensuring confidentiality in line with self‑sufficiency plans.
  • Supervise and mentor at least one full‑time intern each semester.
  • Apply reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Job Requirements
  • Mature and personal Christian faith.
  • Commitment to World Relief’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities.
  • Ability to affirm World Relief’s Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity, and NAMEL document.
  • At least 2 years direct‑service experience with vulnerable populations.
  • BA/BS in Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; preference for Dynamics or other CRM experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passionate, dynamic, and adept at improvisation.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Cultural and linguistic diversity awareness.
  • Self‑motivated with strong follow‑through and problem‑solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; access to a vehicle for client transport.
  • Flexible schedule for occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
