Summary
Oversee the daily operations of the ready mix concrete plant, ensuring efficient production, quality control, safety compliance, and timely delivery of concrete products.
Core Responsibilities- Oversee daily batching to meet production schedules and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with NCDOT, NRMCA, and ACI standards.
- Monitor batching accuracy, plant controls, and equipment performance.
- Maintain production logs, batch tickets, and delivery schedules.
- Verify slump, air content, PSI, and admixture levels before dispatch.
- Maintain calibration of scales, moisture meters, and testing equipment.
- Enforce OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Ensure PPE use in all yard and plant areas.
- Investigate and document incidents and near‑misses.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate plant and yard staff.
- Coordinate driver and plant shift schedules with dispatch.
- Enforce pre‑trip DVIR completion before loading and post‑trip DVIR completion before driver clock‑out.
- Follow up on reported vehicle defects for repair.
- Work with dispatch to prioritize and schedule orders.
- Adjust production schedules for weather, material availability, and operational needs.
- Ensure mixer trucks are loaded and depart on time.
- Oversee plant and equipment maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with mechanics for repairs and downtime reduction.
- Keep maintenance logs and ensure spare parts are stocked.
- Monitor and manage cement, aggregate, admixture, and fuel levels.
- Schedule and verify raw material deliveries.
- Prevent shortages that could disrupt production.
- Zero missed pre/post‑trip DVIRs.
- Plant downtime kept to a minimum through preventative maintenance.
- Production meets or exceeds quality standards.
- Compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Strong coordination with dispatch to meet delivery commitments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance standards.
- Strong knowledge of concrete production and plant operations.
- NCDOT Concrete Field Certification.
- American Concrete Institute Certification.
- Involves working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Standing, bending, or reaching in uncomfortable positions.
