Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a dependable and technically skilled End User Support Specialist to provide part-time IT support for a biotechnology office in the Durham/RTP area.
This role is responsible for day-to-day technical support for approximately 40–50 on-site employees, covering Windows and Cloud PC environments, laboratory computers, printers, and applications. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, managing their own priorities with minimal supervision, and communicating proactively with a remote IT manager.
This is a Part-Time position with an anticipated workload of 20-25 hours/week. The schedule should be consistent, but we are flexible with setting those hours based on candidate preference. We want someone who is able to be on-site at least 4 of the 5 weekdays, and willing to keep their 4-6-hour workdays contained between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Target compensation for this role is $35.00-$38.00/hour.
Responsibilities Include:- Serve as the primary on-site IT support resource for approximately 40–50 end users
- Provide hands-on support for Windows desktop and Cloud PC (Windows 365/Azure Virtual Desktop) environments
- Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory computers, shared workstations, printers, and peripherals
- Support and assist users with laboratory and business applications, including any proprietary scientific or instrument-control software
- Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets in a timely manner, escalating to the remote IT manager as appropriate
- Manage device setup, configuration, and decommissioning for new or departing employees
- Perform basic network and connectivity troubleshooting (e.g., Wi‑Fi, VPN, printer networking)
- Maintain accurate documentation of support activities, recurring issues, and asset inventory
- Communicate proactively with remote IT management regarding issues, trends, and status updates
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in end user or desktop support, helpdesk, or a similar IT support role
- Demonstrated experience supporting Windows operating systems and Cloud PC / virtual desktop environments
- Active CompTIA A+ certification
- CompTIA Network+ or Microsoft certifications (e.g., MD-102) are a plus
- Proficiency troubleshooting hardware, printers, and peripherals in a professional setting
- Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision and self-manage a variable workload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 administration, Intune, or Azure Active Directory
