Data Analyst, Data Science Manager
From Monday to Friday, up to 15 hours a week
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Project Intern will support data analytics and business intelligence efforts within GoTriangle's Tax District Administration Department by assisting with the maintenance and enhancement of the Microsoft BI cloud dashboard and related analytical tools that support regional transit funding and reporting needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain, update and help modify dashboards, data models and associated reports to ensure accurate, timely information for stakeholders.
- Assist with integrating new data sources and developing new visualizations to address evolving business and operational needs.
- Support the design and implementation of enhancements that improve automation, usability and performance of reporting systems.
- Help with data validation, quality assurance checks and documentation related to dashboard inputs and outputs.
- Respond to requests for ad-hoc analytics, data extracts and trend analy0ses from GoTriangle management and Tax District staff.
- Provide basic technical support and consultation related to Microsoft BI, Power Query, data pipelines and related systems under staff supervision.
- Contribute to ancillary and exploratory projects that align with the existing BI environment, including prototype development for future dashboards and reports.
- Coordinate tasks and priorities with GoTriangle/Tax District staff and complete work on an as‑needed basis to meet organizational deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
Education and Experience:
- Current student or recent graduate in data analytics, information systems, public administration,
- business, economics, computer science, or a related field.
- Foundational experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar).
- Basic understanding of data visualization and database or data modeling concepts.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in data quality and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work based on direction from staff, and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions
:
Works in an office environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or extreme temperatures. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting operating facilities, during which the incumbent should observe all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and use all protective clothing and devices provided.

Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
