Title: Senior SCOM Monitoring Engineer / IT Infrastructure & Monitoring Architect

Location: Hybrid in Durham, NC (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Pay Range: $70,000/yr - $75,000/yr

Duration: 6 Months plus

Interview Process: Virtual with possible final round onsite!

Overview
  • We are seeking a Senior SCOM Monitoring Engineer / Architect to join an enterprise monitoring transformation program. These individuals will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting large-scale Microsoft SCOM environments across hybrid infrastructures. The ideal candidates will have deep hands‑on experience with SCOM, monitoring automation, enterprise dashboards, incident reduction strategies, and integrations with platforms such as Splunk, Service Now, RMAD, Active Directory, and Change Auditor.
  • These roles will join the same team as a recently hired SCOM Architect and will help scale monitoring capabilities for mission‑critical systems across Fortune 500‑level environments.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain large‑scale Microsoft SCOM environments with hybrid infrastructures.
  • Develop and maintain SCOM monitoring architecture and dashboards.
  • Implement and tune alerting, overrides, and custom monitoring.
  • Automate monitoring processes with scripting (Power Shell, Python, Bash).
  • Integrate SCOM with Service Now, Splunk, Change Auditor, and Active Directory.
  • Ensure monitoring compliance with security, compliance, and audit frameworks.
  • Collaborate with architecture team to support independent work and team contribution.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years hands‑on experience with Microsoft SCOM in large enterprise environments.
  • Deep experience designing and implementing end‑to‑end monitoring architectures.
  • Expertise with SCOM management packs, overrides, alert tuning, and custom monitoring.
  • Strong scripting skills:
    Power Shell (required), Python or Bash (preferred).
  • Experience integrating SCOM with Service Now, Splunk, Change Auditor, and Active Directory.
  • Strong background in Windows Server, Active Directory, and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
  • Experience with monitoring‑related security, compliance, and audit frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative architecture team.
