Overview
This is a full-time position located in Durham, NC. The ideal candidate holds EM 385, OSHA 510, and NFPA 70E and has a background in government work. Local candidates preferred.
FunctionThe Field Safety Consultant inspects client work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. This position will work to create and enforce a culture of safety within Exceed Safety LLC and all of our clients’ workplaces. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability.
This position reports to the Director of Client Engagement and the assigned Subject Matter Expert/Project Manager.
- Provide support to all Exceed Safety LLC and client’s employees
- Supervises field safety compliance by ensuring that Exceed Safety LLC and client’s employees are fulfilling labor safety policies
- Conducts safety classes as well as new hire safety orientations.
- Responsible for all county, states, and federal DOT compliance requirements.
- Enhance job knowledge by participating in educational training sessions.
- Inspect working conditions in manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations, as well as Exceed Safety LLC and our client’s requirements.
- Perform safety audits, job hazard analysis and incident investigations.
- Advise and assist in the development and implementation of plans, policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure safety programs are aligned with company and site goals.
- Conduct/assist with the incident investigation process to ensure thorough investigations, provide resolutions, and issue reports.
- Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
Valid:
- EM385
- OSHA 510
- NFPA 70e
Basic:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Share a strong vision for safety
- Demonstrates a flexible, positive ‘can do’ approach to delivering team results

Preferred:
- Prefer Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety sciences.
- Prefer a background in government work.
- Technical writing skills a plus.
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and strong attention to detail
- Ability to anticipate needs, be resourceful and use sound judgment and tact
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
- Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor jobsite settings. Environmental conditions will vary.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, type, carry up to 40 lbs, pushing and bending. May be required to occasionally work at heights and in confined space.
- This is a full-time position. Willing to work different shifts and travel up to 80% of the time.
