Overview
Join Petco as a Veterinary Hospital Receptionist. You will provide excellent customer care as the first and last point of contact for clients and patients and support the practice’s daily operations.
Essential Job Functions- Answer the practice phone and route calls appropriately.
- Maintain the hospital appointment calendar, scheduling appointments from callers or visitors and reviewing online bookings.
- Greet all visitors and clients by name, notify technical staff when patients arrive, monitor wait times and make accommodations as needed.
- Assist new staff members with training and general knowledge dissemination.
- Maintain a clean, well‑stocked waiting area and use disinfectants when necessary.
- Confirm appointments by the client’s preferred communication method one day prior, making adjustments as required.
- Provide basic logistical support to technical staff, such as loading rooms or discharging patients when primary staff are occupied.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications- High school diploma is required.
- At least one year of previous experience working in a veterinary practice or a customer‑facing role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent telephone and computer skills.
- Compassionate, professional demeanor in emotional and stressful situations.
- Team player willing to learn new techniques, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
- Preferred:
Previous experience using a Practice Management System.
Job duties are conducted in a full‑service veterinary hospital and may include bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 lbs, and standing for long periods. Much of the time involves direct contact with clients and their pets.
ContactsThis position will regularly communicate with clients, veterinary specialists, and vendors providing products and/or services used by the practice.
