Full-Time, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, performing both routine administrative and patient‑care supportive duties. The CMA assists medical and nursing staff in examinations and treatments, ensures smooth clinic operations, and promotes patient education.
Clinical Duties- Take medical histories and record vital signs
- Explain treatment procedures to patients
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist physicians during examination and procedures
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic lab tests on premises
- Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize instruments
- Promote patient/family understanding of educational content and document in patient record
- Prepare and administer medications as directed; authorize drug refills and telephone prescriptions to pharmacy
- Draw blood; prepare patients for x‑rays, tests, and procedures
- Take electrocardiograms; remove sutures/staples
- Change sterile and non‑sterile dressings
- Answer telephones and greet patients
- Update, file, and maintain patient medical records
- Fill out insurance forms and handle correspondence
- Schedule appointments; arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Handle billing and bookkeeping; perform additional administrative duties as directed
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (Level I); high school or GED required.
- Graduation from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program (Levels II–III); high school or GED required.
- Level I – No experience required.
- Level II – At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Level III – At least 3 years of clinical experience; 1 year experience provided for an Associate degree in Medical Assisting.
In addition to the education and experience requirements, applicants must meet all qualifications set forth in the Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA/RMA) Ladder Program document for Levels II, III & IV.
Certifications & Licensure- Level I – Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA‑CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required; BLS required.
- Level II – Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA‑CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required; BLS required.
- Level III – Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA‑CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required; BLS required.
