Overview
Lincoln Community Health Center, Inc., a federally qualified community health center located in Durham, NC is recruiting for a Nutritionist. Durham is known as the Bull City, the City of Medicine, the Tastiest Town in the South, and the Startup Capital of the South. It’s a two-hour drive from the beach, a three-hour drive from the Blue Ridge Mountains, and is North Carolina’s fourth largest city by population.
Along the East Coast, Durham is located conveniently along I-85. For those outside of driving distance, travel to and from is made easy as the City and County of Durham co-own the top-ranked Raleigh-Durham International Airport that services more than 45 nonstop destinations.
Position Summary:
Provides nutrition services at Lincoln Community Health Center and satellite clinics. Assesses nutrition needs using anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, dietary and socioeconomic information to develop a nutrition plan of care.
- Provide nutrition services at Lincoln Community Health Center and satellite clinics.
- Assess nutrition needs using anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, dietary and socioeconomic information to develop a nutrition plan of care.
- Work requires specialized knowledge in fundamental dietetics; behavior change theory and nutrition through the life cycle.
- Skillful application of this knowledge in counseling clients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with uncomplicated or well-managed health issues.
- Ability to maintain rapport with clients and demonstrate critical thinking in clinical dietetics.
- Good written and verbal communication and materials development skills.
- Desire and ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team with strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt education approaches based on patient goals, learning preferences and abilities, educational attainment, socioeconomic status, culture, English proficiency, and age of clients.
- Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE) approved program in Dietetics, or Dietetic Technician, Registered, with a bachelor’s degree in any subject area from an accredited four-year college or university; or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Preferred one year of experience in the field of nutrition and/or community nutrition rotation setting.
- Spanish language fluency is a plus.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Licensed as a Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics and Nutrition.
- May require appropriate credentialing for billing purposes (e.g., NPI, Medicare/Medicaid Provider).
