General Description of the Job Class:
Perform moderately skilled work aiding physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech‑language pathologists (if applicable) with departmental operating procedures and patient treatment.
Responsibilities- Perform patient related tasks and instructions as designated by the therapist.
- Prepare patient and treatment area for care, and aid therapist with patient care under direct or indirect supervision.
- Maintain correct sterile technique when assisting with wound care and dressing changes.
- Transport patients to proper locations according to schedule, ensuring safety.
- Assist patients in transfers, dressing, toileting, and maintain equipment and supplies.
- Assist in scheduling inpatients and outpatients, ensuring timely patient arrival.
- Support inventory management of linen and supplies, including daily checks and order accuracy.
- Complete activity logs, safety logs, and other administrative records.
- Assist with phone and front‑office coverage as needed.
- Communicate courteously with patients and staff.
- Respond promptly to assistance requests and participate in cross‑coverage efforts.
- Assist in training and orientation of volunteers and interns.
- Participate in review of activities and processes, helping implement improvements.
Level I
- Graduation from high school or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successful completion of an on‑the‑job training period and demonstration of competency.
- One year rehabilitative services experience preferred.
Level II
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training certification, Massage Therapy certification, or at least three years of relevant experience as rehab aide/technician.
- Consistently meet patient‑care productivity standards.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with and co‑treat more complex therapy procedures.
BCLS certification is required or obtained within the first three months of employment.
