General Description of the Job ClassPlan and administer speech-language pathology evaluations, and plan and implement appropriate treatment. Document the provision of such care, utilize support staff, and participate in special projects as designated.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level- Independently maintain a clinical caseload in the designated clinical cluster area.
- Provide evidence-based evaluation and treatment to diverse, medically complex patient populations.
- Deliver quality service techniques that facilitate optimal care, considering the patient’s age, social, cultural, educational, and vocational background.
- Provide appropriate written and/or verbal education on communication and/or swallowing disorders to patients, families, and professionals.
- Complete required documentation accurately and within designated time frames, including report writing, billing, and/or professional education databases.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team and with department colleagues to promote best patient care standards.
- Participate in the peer review process.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives within the assigned work area under the supervision of the Assistant Manager of Rehabilitative Services.
- Take initiative to stay current in clinical practice through lectures, literature, and other educational opportunities.
- Organize daily schedule to prioritize responsibilities, integrating meetings, tasks, and responsibilities without negatively impacting patient care or productivity.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient care and all division policies and procedures.
- Keep the Assistant Manager of Rehabilitative Services informed of activities, problems, and accomplishments.
- Function in a self‑directed manner, taking ownership of work, including responsibility for actions and accountability for results.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and ensure quality care in all interactions.
- Respond promptly to communications (e.g., emails, pages, and phone messages).
- Use technology (e.g., computer skills) to meet job requirements.
- Maintain productivity standards.
- Complete clinical competencies consistent with job responsibilities and personal development plans.
- Perform duties, tasks, and assignments as directed to support department goals or needs.
- Meet all performance expectations and adhere to all division policies and procedures.
- Comply with ASHA, state licensure board, and department clinical practice guidelines.
Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited university program.
ExperiencePrevious experience in a medical setting is preferred, although other relevant clinical experience will be considered.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology issued by ASHA
- North Carolina License in Speech‑Language Pathology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists
- Temporary License in Speech‑Language Pathology issued by the same board (if applicable)
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
