Primary Purpose of Position

The Director of Treasury/Tax reports to the Associate Controller and is responsible for managing debt, cash management, tax reporting compliance and overseeing Accounts Payable operations. In this role, the Director of Treasury/Tax will be tasked with providing support for internal and external reporting and payment deadlines. This includes the accrual, allocation, and recording of interest and other financing costs, as well as managing required external debt service payments.

The Director will also be responsible for fulfilling monthly and annual financial analytical reporting requirements. The position involves developing and maintaining Treasury/Tax reports for compliance reporting, managing tax compliance, creating debt projection models and budgets, and preparing cash flow projections. The Director of Treasury/Tax will regularly monitor financial and non‑financial debt covenant requirements and prepare necessary schedules, notes, and analyses for the annual financial statements.

Additionally, the Director will engage in special projects related to university bond issues, interest rate swaps, debt‑related derivative transactions, and tax filings.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft products.
  • Experience with Ellucian/Banner is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
Additional Qualifications Desired
  • Experience in debt management.
  • Experience with cash management.
  • Experience with Tax reporting.
  • Familiarity with external financial and compliance reporting processes.
Minimum Education /Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting, audit in a public accounting environment, or related experience.
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation

Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
